We have hardly touched the tip of the iceberg here. This article
showed us some concrete examples of personalization: why to use
it, and how to implement it. Best of all, the techniques we have
discussed are simple to implement, and are valuable tools in any
ASP developer's belt.
ACME is happy with the new schemes, because 1) it may result in
increased profitability and customer loyalty, and 2) it was easy
and cheap to implement. If you have a dynamic database driven
site, it is an oversight to not include some form of
personalization.
Getting into the nitty-gritty of personalization is often similar
to building customer satisfaction, no matter what type of Web site
or business you are building. The problem with the Web is that
users have no personal contact, with no one there telling them
what to do or how to do it. With personalization, you can do just
that, and provide visitors much better experiences — giving
them truly interactive experiences. Almost like a real person.
