RealPix: Conclusion
February 1, 1999
The RealPix file by itself is really just an advanced slide show.
Pictures fade, dissolve or wipe into each other to create pleasing
transitions. Streaming and compression make this possible over
low bandwidth connections to create advanced online presentations.
However, the real power of RealPix is seen when it is combined on
a timeline along with a RealAudio soundtrack or when it is shown
with accompanying RealVideo and RealText. At this point the
presentation reaches the level of online storytelling. While we
haven't quite reached the level of interactive TV, Real has taken
a first step in making compelling online multimedia content.
