Photo Enhancement Tools
August 11, 2000
So what's the best new feature? It's hard to say which one I like best
but the red-eye removal has got to be a favorite! Jasc has taken a
different approach to removing red-eye. Rather than using a replacement
color, PSP7 actually draws in new eyes!

And not only will it correct
red-eye, but it will correct the effect in animals where the eye is
not red at all! All of this and more.... change the eye color even
if the eye has no red-eye effect! |
Are there other automatic photo enhancements? Yes! and the list
is quite impressive.
- Automatic color balance
- Automatic Contrast Enhancement
- Automatic Saturation Enhancement
- Deinterlace
- JPEG Artifact Removal
- Moiré Pattern Removal
- Automatic Small Scratch Removal
- Clarify
- Fade Correction
- Manual Color Correction
- Red-eye Removal
Twiddle a few dials, click a button here or there and you've got
instant photo phixes!
Defect Removal
An Automatic Small Scratch Removal and Salt and Pepper Filter are available
for removing dust, specks and scratches from an image. It's suggested that
you define a selection when using these commands to avoid damage to the
image.
To remove various types of image noise there are the new Edge-Preserving
Smooth, Texture-Preserving Smooth, Average and expanded Median commands.
For rapid, intelligent removal of image defects or arbitrary objects from
smooth areas of the image, the Scratch Remover tool is provided.
Histogram Adjustment
The new Histogram Adjustment feature gives control over the full
available range of intensities including the balance between shadows
and highlights. Midtones can be balanced against both shadows and
highlights with additional controls permitting creation of low contrast
versions.
