Let your creativity run wild! With Photoshop 7's new Paint engine you're no longer restricted by your imagination!

Brush Palette

The new Brush Palette is awesome. Brushes have a variety of attributes, allowing you to create custom brushes. Included among the attributes are Shape Dynamics, Scattering, Texture, Dual Brush, Color Dynamics, Other Dynamics, Noise, Wet Edges, Airbrush, Smoothing and Protect Texture. Click the checkbox to apply the default settings, or click the name to display the options palette for that attribute and design your own! Among the options are dozens of settings for shape, tilt, spacing, scatter, jitter, diameter, texture, shading, and more! Take full advantage of your Wacom graphics tablet’s pressure sensitivity, including tilt and airbrush thumbwheel features, for even greater control over brushstrokes. Never before has it been so easy to achieve traditional painting techniques in Photoshop. The cream on this cake is that you can save your creations as a preset which can be accessed from the Tool options bar or from the new tool Presets palette!

The Pattern Maker

The Pattern Maker is a definite plus when it comes to creating tiled or seamless patterns. Up to 20 patterns may be generated from an image, and saved in history. Once a pattern is selected it can be saved to the pattern library where it will be available for all pattern-related tools, including the pattern stamp tool, the healing brush and patch tools, layer styles, and Fill options.

The Healing Brush and Patch Tool

The new Healing Brush and Patch tool are absolutely awesome! No amount of words can fully describe these two tools. The first time you see them work you'll be amazed, wondering "how'd it do that"? With the Healing Brush, you can easily remove scratches, blemishes, wrinkles and other imperfections from an image. It's similar to the Clone Stamp tool, yet different in that it automatically preserves shading, lighting, texture and other attributes. And, it works within one image or between images!
Simply select a blemish free area and alt-click on it. Drag the cursor over the blemished area. As you drag, the area may display different (darker or lighter) tonal and color values. When you release the mouse, the area is automatically corrected and blended.

With the related Patch Tool you can be even more precise by working with selections. Remove wrinkles, dirt, scratches, folds from scans of damaged photos.

Define your selection using any of the selection tools, including channel operations. Once the selection has been made, position the cursor within the selection marquee. The cursor becomes the patch icon. Drag the selection to an unblemished area. Photoshop 'heals' the selection, matching the lighting and shading of the sampled pixels to the source pixels.

Auto Color

The automated color-correction tools have been completed by the addition of the Auto Color feature. Auto color automatically removes color casts from images. The Auto Color command adjusts the contrast and color of an image with a slightly different algorithm than the Auto Levels command.

Liquify

Liquify, located under the Filters menu, has been enhanced for greater editing control. Additional features added to Liquify include:

before

after
  • Change the magnification level of the image using the zoom tool, navigate the image using the hand tool, and undo multiple steps.
  • Display specific layers or a composite image as a backdrop to the layer on which you’re working.
  • Apply saved meshes to multiple layers in the same file or separate files, independent of image resolution.
  • Create and apply meshes to low-resolution images for quick preview; then apply them to higher-resolution images for final output.
  • Apply turbulence to add organic distortion to images.
